The Weather at Howhill

Events - 17 April 2001

Another cold front bringing cold air down from the north. When the front passed through it came with heavy rain which turned to snow within 15 minutes. It then snowed for the next few hours, settling on vegetation and vehicles but not to any great extent on road surfaces. Overnight the temperature fell to -3°C thus everything froze solid and ended up nicely ice glazed. About 1cm of lying snow at 1000 on the 18th.
